R. M. S. Titanic (1912)

April  10, 1912: R. M. S. Titanic left Southampton. After over two years of building in Belfast, it was the largest ship of all, with a length of 882.5 feet and a unbelievable tonnage of 46,328(92,656,000 pounds]. On the night of April 14-15, during its first trip from England to New York, the ''unsinkable'' Titanic collided with an iceberg and sank. There was enough room for less than half of the approximately  2,200 passengers .The ship sank in two and a half hours.There were 705 survivors and 1490 dead. Three different groups  of people had different estimates on how many people died.
